INEQUALITY- Every Man’s Right to the Bare Necessities!
One sits at a banquet, pecks, smiles, touches,
Leaves tons to land into bins and drains,
Other starves, scavenges, picks, searches,
In desperation to find those discarded grains…
One soaks in a warm tub, champagne, music, candles, and salts
Soothes muscles sore from prancing and dancing the salsa and jive,
Other droughty, throat parched, scorched, for the elixir of life awaits-
In torturous despair, a drop of pure water to survive and stay alive…
One frets over wrinkles and crooked teeth,
Chipped nails and unsightly inches around the waist,
The other for a roof above and a land to call his own, beneath,
For freedom and basic rights, that the ignoramus does waste…
Enough and more there is for all,
The rich, the poor, the big and the small,
Ye’ men and women, wise and brave,
Let’s make a pledge to humanity save-
To end this despicable inequality;
And to rid the world of this blatant disparity!
That any man should die of hunger and thirst,
Is a sin of the worst!
‘Tis every man’s right to bare necessities,
The smart may have the additional niceties.
